In fact, hotels and resorts are enabling sleep tourism, by ensuring travellers enjoy all the comfort and luxury for a good, long snooze.

Instead of feeling beaten down after a vacation, you step onto the return train rejuvenated and well-rested. The idea is that you check-into a place that provides an ideal environment for a well-rested sleep. Hotels and wellness retreats are also curating experiences that prioritize sleep. From light to AI-assisted beds, smart goggles, temperature and pillow firmness, everything is calibrated to melt away all tension in preparation for some serious relaxation.

In addition, a few hotels and resorts also offer other amenities such as spas, guided meditation, aromatherapy for sleep, and electromagnetic and infrared therapy- all for one simple reason- to sleep.

A significant transformation has occurred in the perception of vacations, shifting away from the notion that sleeping is the most tedious activity one can engage in. Today, sleep tourism has emerged as the leading travel trend of the year. This shift is understandable, as both India and the global community are experiencing widespread fatigue.

According to a survey conducted by LocalCircles, a citizen engagement platform, almost 60 percent of Indians sleep for less than six hours at night. Given the studies pointing towards the correlation of inadequate sleep and various mental health issues like depression and anxiety, the trend is frightening. This has increased the number of potential vacationers for 'napcation' and vacations oriented toward health and wellness with specific sleep experiences.

That’s not all! A Skyscanner report reveals that 85 percent of Indian travellers are increasingly conscious of their sleep, with 20 percent considering sleep a primary focus for their upcoming vacations.

Some hotels also tweak their menu to nourish the body, so you can effortlessly slip away into a deep slumber. Dishes like Pearl Millet Khichdi and Grilled Wild Salmon with Walnut Quinoa, paired with calming herbal teas, are introduced in the menu, to nourish the body and mind. This is done, bearing in mind that a good night’s sleep begins with mindful eating.

To sum it, sleep tourism represents a significant shift in the travel sector, prioritizing rest, relaxation, and holistic wellness. This emerging trend addresses the demands of contemporary travelers by providing a refuge to recover from life's pressures.
