Thailand is easy, so it's worth doing well
Thailand is the first trip abroad for many Indian travellers, and the default version (Pattaya, a Phuket party night, one temple) barely scratches it. Pair one city, one region and one coast and it becomes a different holiday.
Bangkok for two nights, the north around Chiang Mai for temples, food and hills, then the islands. Which islands depends on the month: the Andaman side around Krabi and Phuket shines from November to April, the Gulf around Koh Samui through the summer.
The country, region by region
-

Temples, river ferries and the best street food in Asia; two nights is right for most trips. Pattaya, a couple of hours away, adds beaches, coral-island tours and lively evenings.
-

Old-city temples, night markets and cooler hills in Chiang Mai, with the White Temple and the Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai a day trip away.
-

Phuket is busy but easy, with the best flight links; we base you on its quieter west coast. Krabi brings limestone cliffs, emerald lagoons and Railay's beaches.
-

Dramatic limestone cliffs and clear water at Phi Phi; long quiet beaches and sunsets on Koh Lanta; and the peaceful, cycle-friendly Koh Yao islands for slow travel away from the crowds.
-

Protected national-park islands with some of the best diving and snorkelling in Southeast Asia, unspoiled coral and quiet beaches. Open roughly November to April.
-

A Gulf island trio, at its best while the Andaman side gets the rain. Samui suits families and honeymoons, Phangan has the Full Moon Party plus quiet coves and yoga retreats, and Tao is a top diving and snorkelling spot.
-

A lush island of jungle hills, waterfalls and laid-back beach towns, for nature lovers and trekkers.

Good to know before you go
Visa-free, with an arrival card
Indian passport holders can stay up to 30 days without a visa (cut from 60 on 15 September 2026). Fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within three days of landing.
Pick the coast by month
Phuket and Krabi are best from November to April; Koh Samui stays drier through July and August.
Dress for temples
Shoulders and knees covered at the Grand Palace and every wat. They do turn people away.
Skip the tuk-tuk 'tour'
A cheap ride that ends at a gem shop. Use Grab or the river ferries in Bangkok.

“We, a group of 5 women booked our trip to Thailand and Cambodia via Travel Tailor. Kanishka took care of everything from start to end. We did not have to worry about flight booking, all pick up and drops for various tours and hotel arrangements. She booked all the activities also for us. Without her we would have been lost. We had a great experience.”
