June is the busiest month of the year for international travel from India. School holidays drive it: families book months ahead, couples use their leave and everyone wants out of the heat. Happily, June is an excellent month at most destinations too. Europe is in early summer, Bali is in its dry season, the Maldives offers its best off-season prices and Mauritius is cool and clear.

The catch is that popularity. Flights fill fast, fares on some routes peak and Bali and the Greek islands get busy. The answer every year is the same: book early, know what each season brings and pick the place that fits the trip you want.

This guide covers the best countries to visit in June 2027 from India, with visa rules for Indian passport holders. Fares and budgets are rough guides at today's prices; check current rates before you book.

June is when the world opens up. The question is not whether to go, it is where to go before everyone else does.

Europe in June: Long Days, Before the Crowds

June is often better than July or August for Europe: long days, warm but rarely extreme heat, and crowds that build only towards the end of the month. One Schengen visa covers 29 countries, but June is peak application season, so apply in April. Remember the EU's Entry/Exit System now takes fingerprints and a photo at your first Schengen border.

Greece

June is one of the finest months for Greece: 25 to 30°C, the sea at a swimmable 23 to 25°C and Santorini, Mykonos and Crete fully open before the August crush. Athens is good for sightseeing early and late in the day. IndiGo flies nonstop from Delhi and Mumbai to Athens, which makes Greece easier to reach than ever.

Greece

Italy

Italy in June is beautiful but busier and pricier than May. Venice is lovely in the evening once day-trippers leave, and Sicily is superb, with warm sea and quiet archaeological sites. Book stays six to eight weeks ahead, and note that Venice charges day-trippers an entry fee on peak days.

Italy

France

Paris in June has long evenings, full café terraces and the Fête de la Musique on 21 June, when the whole country fills with free street music. The Riviera (Nice, Cannes, Antibes) is in summer mode, and Provence and the Loire are at their prettiest. Book Paris stays early.

France

Switzerland

June is when the Alps turn green, the meadows flower and the lakes sparkle. Interlaken is the base for the Jungfrau region, with paragliding, hiking and boats on Lakes Thun and Brienz. Switzerland is expensive, but a Swiss Travel Pass covers most trains, buses and boats and many mountain discounts.

Switzerland

Southeast Asia in June: Bali Shines

Bali, Indonesia

June is one of Bali's best months: dry, clear and less humid. The Bali Arts Festival runs from mid-June to mid-July in Denpasar, with nightly dance, gamelan and craft shows, and is worth timing a trip around. Ubud's terraces are green, the surf at Uluwatu is good and the beach clubs of Seminyak and Canggu are lively.

Bali, Indonesia

Vietnam

In June the north (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay) and the centre (Hoi An, Da Nang) have good weather, while the south gets short afternoon showers. Ha Long Bay cruises run well and Hoi An's lantern-lit old town is lovely. Vietnam is one of the best-value trips for Indians, with nonstop flights from Delhi and Mumbai.

Vietnam

Singapore and Malaysia

Singapore is one of Asia's most family-friendly cities, with Universal Studios on Sentosa, Gardens by the Bay, the zoo and night safari, and excellent food. Note that Indians do need a visa for Singapore; apply through an authorised agent a few weeks ahead. Malaysia is a short flight or bus ride away, and Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Penang are good in June.

Beyond: Maldives, Mauritius, Japan, Turkey and Dubai

Maldives

June is the start of the Maldives' wet season, and one of the best-kept secrets for Indian travellers. It means passing showers rather than constant rain, many sunny days, water at 29 to 30°C and resort prices 30 to 50 percent below December to April. Overwater villas that are out of reach in winter become affordable.

Maldives

Mauritius

June is winter in Mauritius: 20 to 24°C, low humidity and clear lagoons. Whale watching off the west coast begins as humpbacks arrive from about July, sperm whales are seen year-round, and kitesurfing at Le Morne is at its best.

Mauritius

Japan

June is Japan's rainy season, tsuyu, and it puts many people off. It should not: rain usually comes and goes, it is 20 to 26°C, the country is lush and the crowds are far smaller than in cherry blossom or autumn season. Hydrangeas bloom in temple gardens around Tokyo, Kamakura and Kyoto.

Japan

Turkey

Turkey in June is underrated by Indian travellers. Istanbul is 22 to 28°C and lovely along the Bosphorus, Cappadocia's sunrise balloon flights are in good season and the coast from Bodrum to Antalya is in full summer. Food and hotels cost well below Greece, Italy or France.

Turkey

Dubai and the UAE

Dubai passes 40°C in June, but its malls, aquariums, indoor ski slope, theme parks and restaurants work in any weather, and hotel deals are good once the winter crowds leave. Early June suits families straight after exams.

Visa Guide for Indians Travelling in June 2027

  • Visa-free or on arrival: the Maldives, Mauritius, Thailand (30 days), Bali (visa on arrival or e-VOA).
  • e-visa before you fly: Vietnam, the UAE, Malaysia (if visa-free entry has not been extended), Turkey only with a valid US, UK, Schengen or Irish visa.
  • Visa through an agent or visa centre: Singapore, Japan, Turkey (without those visas) and every Schengen country.

June is peak Schengen season and visa centres are at their busiest from April to July. Apply as early as the rules allow, and do not pay for non-refundable bookings until your visa is in hand.

Tips for June Trips Abroad

  • Book much earlier than you think. Popular June dates to Bali, Greece, Italy, Singapore and Dubai can sell out three to four months ahead.
  • Expect June to cost more than May. Fares and hotels run 15 to 40 percent higher. The exception is the Maldives, where off-season starts. Late May saves money.
  • Pack for mixed weather. Evenings in Switzerland and northern Europe are cool, Japan is showery and Southeast Asia needs a light rain layer.
  • Insurance and money. Make sure your policy covers your activities, use a forex or multi-currency card and avoid airport exchange counters.
