Singapore is easy, and that's the point

Few places are as simple to travel as Singapore. It's a short flight from most Indian cities, English is spoken everywhere, the trains are spotless and vegetarian food is never far away. That makes it ideal for families with children, older parents and first trips abroad.

Four or five days covers Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay, a day or two on Sentosa, the Night Safari and the old quarters of Little India, Kampong Glam and Chinatown. It's hot and humid all year, with short tropical downpours; February to April is a little drier. Many people pair it with Malaysia or a few beach days in Bali.

The skyline you've seen in photos: the SkyPark on top of Marina Bay Sands, the Supertrees and the cool Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, the Merlion, the Singapore Flyer, the ArtScience Museum and an evening river cruise. Each autumn the Formula 1 night race runs through these streets.
The island of fun, linked to the city by cable car and monorail: Universal Studios, Adventure Cove waterpark, the Singapore Oceanarium, the Skyline Luge, indoor skydiving and the Wings of Time show on the beach at night. Fort Siloso adds some history. Give it a full day, two with children.
Singapore's old quarters, each a walk apart: temples, spice shops, flower-garland stalls and dosa in Little India; the Sultan Mosque, Arab Street and the street art of Haji Lane in Kampong Glam; the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, shophouses and hawker stalls in Chinatown.
The zoo, the Night Safari, River Wonders and Bird Paradise, side by side in the rainforest of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The treetop walk at MacRitchie and the UNESCO-listed Botanic Gardens show how green the rest of the city is.
The airport is a sight in itself: the Rain Vortex, the world's tallest indoor waterfall, falls through a forest under a glass dome. Leave a few hours before your flight home.

Good to know before you go

Visa through an authorised agent
Indian passport holders need a visa, applied for online through an authorised agent and usually decided in about three working days. We handle it.
Fill in the SG Arrival Card
Every visitor submits the free SG Arrival Card online within three days before arriving.
Strict rules, taken seriously
Don't bring in or use e-cigarettes, which are illegal, and don't litter, jaywalk or bring chewing gum to sell. Fines are real.
Pay as you go on the MRT
Tap a contactless card or phone at the gates; no separate travel card needed. Taxis and ride apps are easy for families.
