For Indian travellers, the visa is often the hardest part of a trip. These fourteen countries make it easy: no visa at all, a free stamp on arrival, a quick online form, or a visa you pay for at the airport. Rules were checked in October 2026 and change often, so look at the country's official immigration site a week before you fly.

1. Nepal

No visa and no passport stamp: Indians can enter with a passport or voter ID and stay as long as they like. Fly to Kathmandu or drive in through Sunauli, Raxaul or Kakarbhitta. Kathmandu's temples, Pokhara's lakes and the Everest and Annapurna treks are all open to you.

2. Bhutan

No visa: you get a free entry permit at the border or airport with a passport or voter ID. Indians pay the Sustainable Development Fee of ₹1,200 per person per night. Fly to Paro or enter by road at Phuentsholing. See our Bhutan travel tips.

3. Maldives

A free 30-day tourist visa is stamped on arrival for everyone with a confirmed resort or guesthouse booking. Fill in the online IMUGA traveller declaration within four days before you fly.

4. Mauritius

Indians get a free visa on arrival for up to 90 days, with a return ticket and hotel booking. Beaches, lagoons, hikes and a strong Indian connection make it easy for families.

5. Seychelles

Visa-free: a visitor's permit for up to 30 days is given on arrival. Apply online for the Seychelles travel authorisation shortly before you fly. Air Seychelles flies non-stop from Mumbai on some days. Plan your trip with our Seychelles guide.

5. Seychelles

6. Thailand

Visa-free for 30 days for tourism (cut from 60 days on 15 September 2026). Fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival. Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Krabi all have direct flights from India.

7. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka gives Indians a free Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for 30 days. Apply online on the official ETA site before you fly; avoid look-alike sites that charge a fee.

10. Kazakhstan

Visa-free for up to 14 days, with direct flights from Delhi to Almaty. Mountain lakes, canyons and a lively city make it an easy short break.

11. Hong Kong

Indians can stay up to 14 days visa-free after completing the free online Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) before travel.

12. Qatar

Visa-free for up to 30 days with a confirmed return ticket and a hotel booked through the Discover Qatar site. A good stopover or a short city break.

14. Indonesia (Bali)

Not visa-free, but easy: a visa on arrival or an e-visa on arrival for 30 days costs IDR 500,000, and Bali adds a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 paid online. Fill in the All Indonesia arrival card before you fly. Plan with our Bali travel guide.

Visa rules change often and can differ for passport holders who have been refused visas before. Always confirm on the official government site before you book, and tell us if you'd like Travel Tailor to plan the trip around them.
