In an effort to bolster tourism from India, the Philippines has introduced two visa-free entry schemes for Indian nationals. This new policy allows Indians to explore the vibrant culture, pristine beaches, and scenic islands of the Philippines without the need for a visa, enhancing the ease of travel between the two nations.

Indian tourists have the option to enter the Philippines visa-free for a period of 14 days, provided their visit is solely for tourism purposes. This short-stay option requires tourists to have a valid passport with at least six months' validity, proof of sufficient funds, confirmed accommodation, a return or onward ticket, and a clean immigration record within the Philippines. It's important to note that this 14-day entry is not extendable and cannot be converted into any other type of visa.

Extended Visa-Free Option And E-visa Availability

For Indian citizens who possess valid visas or permanent residency in select countries, a second visa-free entry option is available. This 30-day visa-free entry applies to those holding valid visas or residency from countries including Australia, Canada, Japan, the United States, Schengen states, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, collectively referred to as "AJACSSUK." Similar to the 14-day entry, this option is exclusively for tourism purposes and is also non-extendable.

For Indian travellers who do not meet the criteria for visa-free entry, the Philippines continues to offer an e-visa option. The 9(a) Temporary Visitor Visa is available for a 30-day single-entry stay and can be applied for online. Applicants are required to submit necessary documents such as a valid passport, government-issued ID, photographs, proof of stay, return travel tickets, and financial documentation through evisa.gov.ph. The visa fee must be paid within 48 hours of application submission, and applicants should keep an eye on their emails for any updates or requests for additional documents.

Key Highlights Of Visa-Free Entry

The visa-free entry to the Philippines for Indian citizens includes two main highlights: the 14-day and 30-day entries. The 14-day visa-free entry is open to all Indian passport holders traveling for tourism, with entry permitted through airports, seaports, and cruise terminals. Requirements include a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, proof of accommodation, a confirmed return or onward ticket, evidence of sufficient funds, and a clean immigration slate in the Philippines.

The 30-day visa-free entry, on the other hand, is available to Indian citizens who hold valid visas or permanent residency from AJACSSUK countries. This option also necessitates a passport valid for at least six months beyond the stay, a return or onward ticket, and a clean immigration record.

These initiatives, as highlighted by recent media reports citing the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi, aim to significantly increase Indian tourist visits to the Philippines. By providing easier access through visa-free entries and the available e-visa option, the Philippines is poised to welcome more Indian tourists to its shores, offering them a glimpse into the country's rich culture and breathtaking landscapes.

The introduction of visa-free entry options for Indian travellers by the Philippines marks a significant step towards enhancing bilateral tourism ties. With the ease of travel now greatly improved, the Philippines is set to become a more attractive destination for Indian tourists seeking new adventures in Southeast Asia.
